Jobs: the most searched jobs on Google by country

Remitly, an American payment services company specializing in online international money transfers, has released a world map revealing the most searched professions on Google according to country. What is the French dream job? Which profession is the most sought after in the world? Business Cool gives you an overview of the preferences of populations around the world.

To develop this map, the Remilty teams based themselves on the following query: “how to become [métier] ? » Although the calculation method may seem relatively imprecise, here is the main information to remember from this study.

Influencer, a new profession that intrigues

The influencer profession was born with the rise of blogs and social networks for several years now. In France, nearly 150,000 people benefit from this activity; worldwide, there are several million. A new profession that is a dream for many since the income generated can skyrocket. This new profession enjoys real attractiveness among the new generation and creates this perception, legitimate or not, of earning money easily among most of these influencers.

If the map does not take into account the age of the individuals, we can see that South/Central America is the region of the world where the query “how to become an influencer” is the most sought after: from Argentina to the Dominican Republic via Venezuela or Nicaragua, many people in these countries are intrigued by the profession.

This term “influencer” is also expressed in the term “YouTuber”, the most sought-after profession in Mexico, Chile, but also in Peru or Uruguay.

What is the most sought-after profession in France?

In France, the profession of lawyer is the most sought after on the web; a request which seems quite common and ultimately logical since this profession is practiced by more than 70,000 people on the national territory. It can generate comfortable income and is considered an elite field. Across Europe, research is very diverse. In Portugal, firefighters come first; in Germany, teachers; in Italy, entrepreneurs.

Flying, the dream job of English speakers

If flying is a dream common to a large majority of individuals on Earth, English-speaking nations seem to be the most interested in the idea of conquering the skies. Indeed, residents of the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Australia and the United States, among the most powerful nations in the world, apparently dream of becoming a pilot, such is the most popular request on Google.

Results which can perhaps be explained by the place occupied by aviation in these countries, in the United States in particular. Indeed, the pioneers of motorized aviation were American: the Wright brothers. Boeing, an aircraft manufacturer, created in 1916, was for a long time the undisputed market leader, before being challenged by Airbus.

Aeronautics is, like most technological worlds, a field where the dominant language is English, which perhaps explains the rapid spread of this appetite for aviation among other English-speaking nations.

Writer, most searched profession on Google

When we look at the map with a little perspective, one request comes up more than the others, almost sixty times in more than 200 countries: writer. Surprising? We might not expect to see this result, but, looking into the subject, it is a profession that raises a lot of questions.

First question, how do we become writer ? There is no dedicated training course… and the income generated through this activity varies. Two reasons which maintain the mystery around this profession, undoubtedly explaining the massive influx of searches on Google throughout the world.

Most searched professions on Google: trends according to continent

As explained previously, the activity of writing arouses strong curiosity in the four corners of the planet and in particular in Asia: India, Pakistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Cambodia, to name a few. China, for its part, is the only one, with its Taiwanese and Hong Kong neighbors, to have a population with a massive interest in the profession of… dietitian. For what reasons? Confucius, a famous Chinese philosopher, described food as “people’s first need” and with more than 5,000 traditional dishes, Chinese people love to eat. A relative explanation of the sudden desire to control one’s figure, hence the repeated search for the word dietician.

Like Europe, research on the African continent is disparate and three professions come up regularly:

  • writer, mainly sought after in the northern and southern ends;
  • entrepreneur/businessman, from Morocco to Madagascar via Chad, Sudan or Angola;
  • lawyer, in a majority of French-speaking countries (Guinea, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Benin, Congo and Senegal), i.e. the same request as in France.

More exotic professions are more sought after in Egypt, with “football coach” or “dancer” in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Malawi and Zimbabwe. Somalia is the only nation in the world with the most sought-after “scientific” query within it.
